Disaster Animal Response Team (DART)

DART is spcaLA’s mobile command post and emergency response team for disaster situations, such as fires or earthquakes. The DART program consists of an equipped mobile command center, portable kenneling, horse trailers, field rescue vehicles and trained staff and volunteers. All spcaLA programs are made possible by donations. To help the DART program, please donate here.

DART (Disaster Alert Response Team)

DART is designed to respond to disaster situations where evacuations are probable or underway. spcaLA will house and care for animals during a disaster when families are uprooted and sent to temporary shelters. Pet owners are no longer faced with the decision to release their animal(s) or sleep in shelter parking lots with their pets because shelters don’t allow animals. The DART command center will take these pets and care for them until calm is restored.

DART scout units also patrol the disaster area looking for displaced domestic and wild animals that may be lost, injured or confused from the disaster.

All programs are run on the generous donations from individuals, corporations and grants
